Schedule a “Suck it Up Sunday” & Enjoy a Happy Home
Sundays are for sleeping in, relaxing with Netflix and only changing out of your pajamas for brunch dates with friends, right? But sometimes—especially when you’ve got a particularly stressful week ahead—your usual chill Sunday can be better spent being productive. Sunday is also a great day to take care of all the things that usually plague you, from cleaning and cooking to getting ahead at work.
You deserve those slowed-down relaxing weekends and you should absolutely keep them on your schedule, but penciling in the occasionally necessary “Suck it Up Sunday” can help make the rest of your week (and the weeks after) go more smoothly—it might just be worth the sacrifice.
So, what does a “Suck it Up Sunday” consist of? Some suggestions for the next time you’re ready to give up your Sunday to GSD.
Do a Full Deep Clean
Sure, you keep your home neat, but has it been a while since you last did a full-on deep clean of your home? Go from room to room tackling any cleaning tasks you haven’t done for a while and get your home as clean as can be—then it’ll be easier to do your day-to-day chores and keep everything tidy.
Wash All Your Laundry
Been a while since you last washed all your clothes? If you’re approaching your last pair of socks, take this time to get everything clean, dried and put away in its proper place—this is also a good excuse to organize your wardrobe, and maybe even go through your clothes and donate anything you want to get rid of.
Achieve Inbox Zero
If your inbox is the bane of your existence right now and you don’t know how you acquired so many unread emails, use your “Suck it Up” Sunday to clear them all out once and for all. Unsubscribe from any newsletters you never check, organize your important emails into folders, and breathe easier Monday morning when you log in.
Prep or Plan Your Meals
You don’t have to get into prepping your meals for every day if you don’t want to, but it might be helpful to spend a few hours prepping or making meals that freeze well and storing them away for a time when you’re otherwise too tired to cook—it’ll keep you from ordering out (a perk if you’re trying to save money) and will make your life a lot easier overall.
Tackle a Home Project
Are there any DIYs you’ve been dying to try that aren’t particularly fun in the moment, but will better your home? Maybe you’ve been thinking about painting or changing something but you haven’t had the time to get it done—now’s your chance.
…Or Just Whatever’s On Your To-Do List
At the end of the day, only you know what you really need to get done or what you’re behind on, so use your “Suck it Up Sunday” to face those things head on. You’ll feel so much better afterwards—and next weekend, you can go right back to relaxing and having fun.
