An Interview With My High School Senior About the College Application Process
I thought you would enjoy this Facebook Live Broadcast where I interview my daughter Maude, who is graduating from high school tomorrow, about the college application process. Maude was accepted at all 6 colleges she applied to and she will be attending Berkeley in the fall.
If you’re a parent of a high school student, and nervous about college applications, hopefully this will be a helpful interview and will relieve some of your stress.
In the broadcast, I also mention AMAZE, a really helpful organization that helps parents navigate sex ed for their kids (I mentioned them in the post about sex ed too). AMAZE is a collaboration between experts in the field of sex education, and they make engaging, age-appropriate sex education videos for 10-14 year olds. The videos cover a wide range of subjects — from “mechanics” (e.g., puberty) to more complex topics (relationships, gender identity, consent, etc.). The organization really wants to help parents make things less awkward, and empower them to be the primary sexuality educators for their kids. I highly recommend using the videos as conversation starters and I follow AMAZE on Facebook so I that I hear about their new videos.
And for all you Fixer Upper fans, I’m going to tell you about the photo shoot the Magnolia Journal is doing at my house later this month.
