Here’s Everything We Know About Homesense, The New HomeGoods Spinoff

Ever since TJX companies announced a new home store concept back in February, we’ve been following the news closely. Now we have even more info about HomeGoods spinoff chain, Homesense, like what will be inside and where and when the first stores are opening.

People magazine reported on Monday that although similar in concept, Homesense will differ in selection from HomeGoods stores in the US and current Homesense locations in Canada and Europe. US Homesense shoppers can expect “expanded furniture, lighting, art and gifting departments,” the brand says. That means you’ll see items like sofas, chandeliers, pool and foosball tables, bar stools, poufs, and more gracing the floors of the new store.

TJX is also adding the concept of a “general store” to Homesense, where there will be hardware, mailboxes, storage cubbies, cleaning supplies, and other home improvement essentials.

Another change is the store layout itself, which will borrow more showroom techniques, where items are arranged like they would be in an actual home—think art arranged in a gallery wall or accent pieces “conceptually displayed to entice the senses and inspire new discovery,” the company says.

“Just as our customers enjoy shopping both TJ Maxx and Marshalls, we are confident that loyal customers and new shoppers alike will be excited about shopping both Homesense and HomeGoods,” says HomeGoods and Homesense president John Ricciuti. “We are excited to bring consumers an expanded selection of quality merchandise at incredible prices, along with a new shopping experience in which they can discover and curate the home of their dreams.”

The first store will open on August 17 in Framingham, Massachusetts, where TJX is headquartered. Three more locations will open this year in East Hanover and Ocean Township, New Jersey, and Westwood, Massachusetts.
