Project Re-Love: One of the Most Dramatic Before & Afters We’ve Ever Seen

Sure, there’s something exciting about purchasing a brand new piece of furniture – it’s dust-free, scratch-free, (sticker-free if you’re parent to a toddler) and demands the spotlight of attention when you walk in the room. But what if I told you that you could have the same feelings about a previously purchased piece picked up from the local consignment store? Kristine Franklin from The Painted Hive has a knack for re-purposing furniture that has seen better days, furniture that ultimately just needs a little extra love (and elbow grease) to get it back in the spotlight.

I’m here to show you her latest re-purposed, emphasis on purpose, piece: a drop dead gorgeous dresser makeover that’ll make you rethink hitting “purchase” on all those pricey items in your West Elm shopping cart. And to top it off, her custom piece will be auctioned off over in Australia in support of Salvos Stores (part of The Salvation Army). What more could you ask for? A tutorial so you can create your own, you say? Well, do I have a treat for you…

Head over to The Painted Hive to see how to take your dresser from cheap consignment to new and improved.

If you’re from the land down under and want to place a bid, head over to the Feast Watson website to see Before & Afters from other talented DIY contributors. Bidding begins August 14th and I’m sure this dresser won’t last long! And special thanks to Kristine for sharing her talent and tutorial with Apartment Therapy.
