A Few Things
September 1st has arrived? Labor Day weekend? Is this for real? I think we’re all being punked. I’m pretty sure it’s only April or May, right?
How are you doing, Friends? Was it a good week? We’re having a heat wave here in the Bay Area. We dropped off popsicles to the elementary school for June’s class — I’m sure the school teachers are having a hard time beating the heat. It feels like a good time for a long weekend.
We currently don’t have weekend plans but are considering a last-minute road trip or getaway. California has so many places to go! But I suspect everywhere we think of will be packed with people. So maybe our best bet is a staycation of sorts. How about you?
I have a few things to share with you today. Lots of topics I’m still thinking about:
I’m a black daughter of the Confederacy, and this is how we should deal with all those General Lees.
A rainbow river? In Colombia? So cool! I wonder if Ralph will get to see this.
Related, these women created a fake male cofounder to deal with startup sexism.
I’m fascinated/disturbed by these then and now photos of resorts in the Catskills.
The information war is real and we’re losing it.
What next for flood victims? The comments on this post are gold.
I’ve posted about the ring theory before, but it’s worth remembering when so many people are in crisis right now.
Went to a late show with Ben Blair and saw Logan Lucky. I hadn’t heard anything about it going it, but really enjoyed it. Like an Ocean’s 11 based in West Virginia instead of Las Vegas. Have you seen it?
This article about the wives of former NFL players. (I’m left to ask: How did we as a country ever think a sport was worth doing this to our sons?)
I’m been experimenting with self-tanners and this mousse is my favorite by far.
What is it like to be white? (It’s a short read, and very impactful.)
I hope you have an AMAZING weekend. I hope you get to spend it with people you love, eating something delicious. I hope the weather is good and that you get to spend some time outside. I’ll meet you back here next week. I miss you already.
