Marrakech Meets Mad Men in a Warm Montreal Home — House Tour
Sarah and Gabriel’s Montreal home is on the second floor of a building located on a tree-lined street. The space itself could be described as “monochromatic tones meet a few pops of color.” In other words, it’s a space decorated with care and filled with a selection of rich materials, original pieces, and organic details. It showcases an effective mix of warm accents, mid-century elements, and simple chic styles, all of which blend to create a cozy space for the family of three.
Gabriel is part owner of Atlas Chic, which he started as a passion project. Of Moroccan descent himself, he always loved the look and feel of Moroccan rugs. A chance encounter with Hamza Menebhi, a Marrakech-born entrepreneur living in Montreal, led them to start Atlas Chic together. Their goal has always been to make unique handmade, artisan rugs accessible to people on a budget. As Gabriel says, “Design is a process. The more you live in a space the more it reveals itself.” This is absolutely true of the Montreal home he shares with his family.
Gabriel and his business partner believe that one-of-a-kind handmade rugs tell a story and add character to a space. He thinks every household should have at least one unique rug. Sarah and Gabriel’s home doesn’t just feature one, but a few. These statement rugs mix with beautiful furniture and bring warmth and texture to the space.
