Give Me All The Pumpkins! Fabulous Pumpkin Decorating Ideas

Have trouble resisting pumpkins whenever you happen to be at the grocery store this time of year? These projects will give you an excuse to buy a few or help you make the most out of the ones that have somehow found their way home with you. There’s a full range of styles and DIYs here, so whether mini pumpkins and a marker or full-size pumpkins and intricate carving suit your crafting speed, there’s something here for you!

LOVE the look of these! They achieve the rare Halloween feat of perfectly combining spooky creepiness and sophisticated style. Paper & Stitch recommends sticking to just three colors and combining them in a variety of ways.

Amy of Homey Oh My makes a good point: “You know those pretty powdery pastel-hued grayish jade heirloom pumpkins? I don’t think I’ve ever seen a real one in person, and I’m guessing I would if I drove out to some pumpkin farm 100 miles away, but I’m not going to do that.” Instead, she figured out how to recreate the look at home.

Is Hocus Pocus an annual mandatory re-watch in your home? This DIY is for you! Haven’t seen Hocus Pocus, like me? Consider adorning your pumpkins with quotes from Teen Witch, perhaps all of the lyrics to Top That, or anything said by the little brother. All you need are a variety of pumpkins and a variety of alphabet stickers.

Any excuse to buy stick-on rhinestones! You can paint your pumpkins before bejeweling them, or just add sparkles to their lovely natural hues. If you choose the latter, this is the perfect soothing project to do whilst rewatching Stranger Things in anticipation of the new season.

Start with little white pumpkins (or orange ones painted white) and then create a rainbow out of craft foam. I’m not sure what craft foam is, but you should stock up! You’ll need it for another fun tutorial below.

Missing summer already? Use your craft foam to craft these pool float pumpkins. These might be tricky to incorporate into autumnal decor, but they would look adorable on a porch or patio.

Step one is to decide what type of marble you love best! Then gather/purchase paints in the colors of that marble, get yourself a few feathers—necessary for realistic looking veining—and marble away.

This tutorial begins with the most goth, metal, Halloween instruction ever: “Using a small saw, cut the heads off of the mini lawn flamingos.”

Pumpkin DIYs involving carving are becoming rare! If you only do one, make it this project inspired by traditional Mexican embroidered textiles. Many cultures have similarly wonderful traditional embroidery, so you could translate this DIY to suit your favorite.

If you know how to work Snapchat, this one is for you! Spray paint your pumpkins to suit your favorite filters, then print out Aww Sam’s downloadable filter accessories.

SPEAKING OF RIDICULOUS. These are the absolute best, and the only things that would make them better would be glow-in-the-dark vampire fangs and googly eyes.

Don’t feel like you have to buy your full Halloween decor all at once, or make just one type of pumpkin. A limited palette will allow you to throw all your Halloween favorites together and have it look spookily great.
