Disaster Zone Averted: The Storage Bins That Might Solve All My Closet Issues — Amazon Deal of the Day

I’m about to embark on a tale that many of you may have lived yourself at some point in your life…the harrowing story of the guest room closet clean out. My friends, I live in a two-bedroom condo, where the second bedroom is used by my S.O. as his make shift office/photography studio/dressing room, and by me as my dumping ground for anything I don’t feel like dealing with/finding a proper place for. When actual guests come to spend the weekend, it’s a mad dash to figure out what we can rearrange in there to make it look less embarrassing, and close the closet doors with a hope and a prayer.

Last weekend, after attempting to shove a new set of towels I had picked up at Costco into the crevices of this closet (as I recently converted my actual laundry closet into a pantry), I hit my “enough is enough” point and went all in. With the help of my partner, we ripped everything out of there: sewing supplies, bags and bags of fabric scraps, left over pieces of upholstery foam, bins full of hand tools, painting supplies and all my beau’s clothing. As there was very little space in there for, you know…actual clothes (he basically used the bed as his “horizontal closet” as I liked to call it), the time was now to take matters into our hands, get things under control and enlist the life-changing magic that is supposed to come when tidying up.

So, tidy up we did (and while the process wasn’t life-changing, the results were pretty magical). We rocked some of our favorite Spotify playlists and went to town filling construction zone-grade garbage bags of donations and anything that belonged in the trash (finally). A few hours in and numerous mutterings of “We should have done this sooner”, we were left with a closet that served it’s actual purpose—to hold clothes. As my S.O. is pretty much a minimalist when it comes to his wardrobe, there were plenty of spots left to store sheets, towels, hobby supplies and more. What we needed next were some baskets to coral all the like items. The guest room closet has some pretty fantastic built-ins (thanks landlord!), so storage bins that fit into those cubbies were on our wish list. I specifically wanted something neutral, likely made of canvas (durable!), and sizeable enough to hold folded sheet sets and power drill boxes.

After doing a little digging, I stumbled upon these foldable gray canvas bins on Amazon, and they may be just what I need. The order comes with three 16.5″Lx12.5″Wx10″H containers for under $18, which I think is a great deal as this item’s price seems to average about $25 with some fluctuations. For about $6 each, they are certainly worth a try to keep my guest bedroom closet (2.0!) in tip top shape.

Check them out for yourself if you’re also looking for stylish yet practical storage bins (and chime in in the comments below if you have these and love them, or have any others you recommend!):
