White Pumpkins Are the Newest Twist on Fall Decorating

These days, white is rivaling orange in the preferred-pumpkin-color department. You’ve probably noticed more of them online and at your farmstand. Here are some fresh ideas for adding this gorgeous ghost-hued gourd to your fall decor this season.

Classic Color Palette

Mixing a healthy dose of white pumpkins into a classic orange-and-black Halloween color palette is a great way to lighten up the mood and keep your space feeling fresh and uncluttered. Above, interior designer Ginny MacDonald opted to pepper some whimsical plush velvet white pumpkins into her orange-and-black mantel design for a chic and classic Halloween display.

Monochromatic

If you’re a minimalist or hardcore “Scandi” follower, white pumpkins are essential for fall decorating. Keeping with an all-neutral, chromatic color palette, like Mae Gabriel, is a great way to give your autumn decor a unique and modern spin.

Indigo Gourds

Indigo is everywhere these days, and this marbled indigo pumpkin DIY from
Alice and Lois is a beautiful way to incorporate it into your fall decor. The best part? All you need is blue nail polish and water to make these beauties (oh, and white pumpkins, of course).

Cutesy Faces

As if teeny, tiny white pumpkins weren’t already the most adorable thing you’d ever seen, Amy from Homey Oh My has catapulted their adorable-ness off the charts. All you need is a paint pen to draw black lashes on to white pumpkins to create these sleepy lil gals. If you want that pop of green, Amy used a drill to create two small holes in which to to stick eucalyptus stems.

Simple and Rustic

If there’s a terrain Terrain is familiar with, it’s whimsical garden goodness. Here, their Dried Grapevine Wreath has been adorned with a single row of fairy-sized white pumpkins for a simple, rustic piece perfect for your weathered, white barn door.

Mudcloth

Another clever DIY from Homey Oh My, this on-trend mudcloth-inspired pumpkin decoration is best done on white pumpkins, or pumpkins painted a neutral color, like the jade and black versions above. Try this one in combination with the marbled indigo pumpkins from Alice and Lois if you want your mantel to resemble an Amber Interiors sofa.

Art-Studio Chic

All you need is a box of crayons and a hair dryer to decorate your pasty pumpkins like Apartment 34. Simply lay the crayons on top of your pumpkin and melt them with a hair dryer for a thick, textured, drippy paint effect.

A white canvas is about as blank as they come, so whether your style is minimal, maximal, monochromatic, or colorful, white pumpkins area great versatile fall decoration that can work in pretty much any household.
