The Totally Dreamy & Magical Look that Evokes Pure Christmas

There are few holiday sights quite like a European Christmas market: snow-covered trees, booths bursting with decorations and holiday goodies, everything covered with garlands and lights. Inspired by the idea of a traditional, old-world Christmas, we’ve rounded up a few ideas for getting the look in your own home. Warning: It’s pretty magical (and doesn’t take much).

Above: Wreaths are traditionally hung from the wall, but I love the idea of hanging one from the ceiling, like in this setup from Hus & Hem. Candles arranged in a circle below add light and warmth, which is pretty much mandatory for the European Christmas market look..

This Christmas tree from HGTV is adorned with dried oranges, bundles of cinnamon, and popcorn and cranberry garlands, for a beautiful, old-fashioned feel.

I love the simplicity of this room spotted on Style at Home: all it takes is a little greenery to get a room into the holiday spirit. (The roaring fire probably doesn’t hurt, either.)

I love this holiday tablescape from 100 Layer Cake, which features a plaid tablecloth, flowers and greenery, and lots and lots of candles.

This tree, spotted on Elle Sweden, is massive and even a little bit wild. Covered in stars, ribbons, and pinecones, it gives off a distinctly old-world vibe.

This entrway from Craftberry Bush is a welcome introduction to a holiday home, with lighted greenery and a traditional red, green and white color scheme.

Colorful glass ornaments make this tree spotted on Sisters Guild especially festive. (The basket surrounding the bottom of the tree is an interesting alternative to a tree skirt.)

The garland that surrounds this fireplace from Lonny incorporates what look like finger limes (help me out here, citrus lovers), for a beautiful, old-fashioned look. (The peacock is optional.)

I love how this mantelpiece from House & Home includes a simple garland, but also small, treasured objects in cloches. The cloches help to highlight the smaller accents, but also give the whole setup a more sleek, uniform look.
