A Toronto Designer’s Rainbow Renovation — House Tour
Name: Tiffany Pratt
Location: The Beaches — Toronto, Canada
Size: 1,200 square feet
Years lived in: 8 years, renting
For as long as she can remember, Tiffany has had a deep affinity for color. As a designer and stylist, she uses it to create bright and beautiful spaces. She loves evoking thought, inspiration and delight using bold hues that some might overlook. Color is so much in Tiffany’s lifeblood that she recently partnered with Krylon to create a line of 16 custom spray paints for the Tiffany Pratt Colour Collection.
Tiffany’s positive personality and intentional manner are remarkably present in her designs. She has the ability to speak to a wide audience and perhaps even inspire less color-loving folk to see its magic (and maybe even a little glitter). In her book, This Can Be Beautiful, Tiffany guides readers through creative projects that seek to inspire and beautify our homes, wardrobe, travel, and more.
Between all the hats she wears for others, it was time for Tiffany to cultivate an updated space of her own. A cross between a sanctuary to ground herself in and a creative hub, last year Tiffany embarked on a renovation project of her upper level apartment in Toronto’s East End. The main design priority was storage and organizational systems in each room to create a perfect place for everything. By focusing on organization, storage and getting rid of what she didn’t use, she was able to open each room up with a sense of clarity. The next step was to brighten the space, which was done by painting the old wood floors white. Of course, things couldn’t be left all white, so with the last layer came the color and eclectic decor she’s known for.
A project near and dear to Tiffany’s heart is her participation on HGTV Canada’s hit TV show Home to Win. Alongside some of Canada’s top talent, this team of designers are challenged to redecorate a home, which is then awarded to a deserving family. Stay tuned for season three airing this upcoming spring!
