An Industrial Designer’s Tiny, “Techie” NYC Studio — House Tour

Name: Emilie Williams
Location: Chelsea — New York, New York
Size: 210 square feet
Years lived in: 1 year, renting

Since she’s an industrial designer and a Design Director at American Standard Brands (a leading North American plumbing and building products manufacturer), it’s no surprise that functionality was Emilie’s goal when arranging her tiny New York City studio. The 210-square-foot space feels modern and cozy thanks to a simple decor style. But there’s more than meets the eye: Color-changing light bulbs are commanded by voice, and a bunk bed/office is a hydraulic-powered convertible area!

Take a video tour of Emilie Williams’ apartment:

Emilie and her adorably friendly toy poodles Miles and Scotty have lived here for about a year, which makes all of her tech improvements to the space even more impressive. Learning to live small is worth it for her, since she loves her neighborhood. Living in Chelsea means she can walk to work and visit her pups during her lunch break. When she’s not at work, she can be found playing video games and making music in her teeny but totally functional-for-her home.
