A Few Things

Hello, Friends. How are you? How was your week? Any fun plans? We’ve got a lot on our calendar this weekend — Ben’s traveling to Denver, Olive is working at Color Factory, Oscar has a Scout Campout, and there’s a cousins sleepover in the works — but I’m hoping their will be some good downtime too.

In other news, I read so much good stuff this week. Here are a few links I’ve been wanting to share:

– Rob Porter’s history of domestic abuse wasn’t a secret. It’s just that no one cared.

– A compelling case for breaking up big tech.

– Hahaha! New erotica for feminists.

– Have you ever felt shamed for spending money on yourself?

– Ed Yong spent two years trying to fix gender imbalance in his reporting. Here’s what he learned.

– There’s a mysterious Red Rock Pants Arch in the Canadian Arctic.

– It’s time for medical schools to apologize and atone for the cadaver trade. NYT

– Remember how Martha would sharpie the red soles of her Louboutins?

– An oldie but goodie — a reminder that all artists struggle in the beginning.

How strict are French parents?

– The back story on Japanese Interment Camps is all about farming. I had no idea. This makes me want to scream.

– Related, don’t fear immigration. Your grandma was a chain migrant.

– Researchers have identified the ruins of more than 60,000 houses, palaces, elevated highways, and other human-made features in Guatemala that have been hidden for centuries.

I hope you have a fabulous weekend. I’ll meet you back here on Monday. I miss you already.
