A Few Things

Hello, Friends. How are you? I hope you’re in the mood to mix things up — how about a weekend link list on Monday?

I’m home from Altitude Summit and feeling really good. It was a terrific event. The best one yet! I arrived home late on Thursday night with my dearest friend from France, Caroline, and her lovely (grown-up) daughter Clementine. They both came to the conference with me, and were a huge help.

Happily, we got to have a couple days of tourist time in San Francisco and Oakland before they flew back to France on Saturday afternoon. Cable cars and Lombard Street and Bakesale Betty’s and Temescal Alley and the Ferry from Jack London Square and dinner at the Ferry Building. Both cities were washed clean from a good rain, and everything seemed fresh and bright. Plus no lines anywhere! (I assume because of the weather.) It was really, really fun.

I can’t wait to tell you more about the conference. But first, I have a few things I’ve been wanting to share:

– Dammit. 110 school girls in Nigeria are missing.

– 32 people weigh in on how to overcome SAD.

– A group of women just bought the Weinstein Company.

We Got Rid of Some Bad Men. Now Let’s Get Rid of Bad Movies. (NYT)

– Related, did you see Frances McDormand’s Oscar acceptance speech?

– Doctors have finally acknowledged menstrual cramps are as painful as heart attacks.

– We need to encode technology with the best of our humanity.

Why are the Parkland kids so good at this? Their public school prepared them for it.

Do you have a least favorite flower?

Still thinking about gun violence. Russian ties to the NRA? And a Georgia teacher fired his gun in the classroom.

– Last year, the world’s billionaires made enough money to end extreme poverty around the globe seven times over.

– The legendary Ruth Bader Ginsburg shares her story of fighting sexual discrimination in law and becoming the second ever female justice of the U.S. Supreme Court.

I hope you had a wonderful weekend. I’ve missed you like crazy. And I’ve got some really great content for you this week — including a random thoughts post. I’m dying to catch up with you!

kisses,
Gabrielle
